But Mr. Meisel, a scientist who lives outside Boston, did not subscribe to Peacock. If they weren’t watching “Poker Face” anymore after two weeks, they would cancel Peacock. In the weeks that followed, Mr. Meisel, who is 39, cut loose Max, Apple TV+ and Hulu. He eventually resubscribed to Hulu and Apple TV+ when there were shows the couple wanted to watch — Hulu for “The Bear,” Apple TV+ for “Slow Horses” — but canceled both again after they finished watching a new season.

Although Leslie has been chipping away at her student loan debt for about 15 years, she says it's been worth it in order to pursue her passion. Leslie used her DoorDash side hustle to help pay down her student loan debt. Leslie used her early DoorDash earnings to eliminate her car loan, then began throwing the rest at her remaining student loan balance. "It was really important that I got a lot of my student loan debt taken care of because then I was able to dedicate that back into myself and my health and my mental wellness," she says. CNN —Netflix, the dominant player in streaming, says it grew sales, profits and added more than 9 million subscribers as it revealed first-quarter results on Thursday. In total, Netflix now has 269.6 million subscribers, a record high. In recent months, Netflix has made moves to expand and even radically reinvent its business in an effort to juice profit. In January, Netflix announced it had acquired the exclusive rights to "WWE Raw" live, currently seen on Comcast's USA cable network. In January, Netflix’s president of advertising, Amy Reinhard, shared that Netflix’s ad-tier had more than 23 million users.
